Game Description:

To put it simply Fight Night Round 4 is a boxing game. The controls are pretty simple, move your boxer with your left analog stick and throw punches with your right analog stick. Things like blocking and haymakers are assigned to buttons used in combination with the analog sticks making Fight Night Round 4 very easy to learn how to play. You even use the analog sticks when you get knocked down to balance yourself and get back up.

As with past Fight Night games, there are many famous boxers you can fight against. This version includes Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson and George Foreman just to name a few. There is also a very fun and deep career mode where you can create a player and start out as a “nobody” in the local gym and work your way up to legendary status. If you enjoy the sport of boxing, this is the game to get.

What Parents Need to Know

Violence:

The name of the sport is boxing and as such the primary purpose is to get into the ring and knock out your opponent. There is a little bit of blood at times, but nothing gory or over the top.

Language:

One of the reasons the ESRB rated the game T was for mild lyrics. This means there might be some mild language is some of the music, but nothing jumped out at me while I was playing the game.

Sexual Content:

The ring girls are dressed provocatively. Sometimes they are wearing very small bikinis, but they appear on the screen very briefly.

Spirituality:

No spiritual content.

Reviewers Thoughts:

To be honest, I am huge fan of Nintendo’s Punch Out when it comes to boxing games, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun I had playing Fight Night Round 4. If you are a fan of boxing and would prefer a more realistic boxing game than Punch Out, then Fight Night Round 4 is a game you will want to check out. As for family appropriateness, that depends on how you personally feel about the content mentioned above.
