Take an excellent video game development team, a successful game that needs a sequel, and Steven Spielberg. Mix those up, and you end up with Boom Blox: Bash Party, the sequel to last year’s Boom Blox. The game features over 400 puzzles to be completed by using several “toys” that include baseballs, bowling balls, bombs, slingshots, and cannons. The puzzles are made up of several different kinds of blocks all of which do some amazing things and provide lots of fun for players of all ages.
The closest thing to
violence in Boom Blox is being able to knock the little characters
around the
board with whatever toy you have at your disposal. You are encouraged
to knock
them around in a few levels, and some levels require protecting them.
They may
bounce around a bit, but they get up and keep on going without any
injury.
There are no bad language issues with this game.
There is no sexual content in the game.
There is no
spiritual content in the game.
The pirate level features some stylized pirate skulls and cross-bones logos.
Good, clean fun. These are not predominant features in video games nowadays, but Boom Blox: Bash Party can be summed up in those words. Here is a game that is kid-friendly, will make you think, and has plenty of replay value. I especially enjoyed the fact that this was a game my wife and I could both play and enjoy, as well as a game the teens I work with also have a blast with. This is a fantastic game that I will be keeping as a part of my game library.
